Doxford Hall Wedding Photography – Louisa & Chris

My first wedding at Doxford Hall was for the lovely Louisa and Chris who were married on the same day as Louisa’s parents 45th wedding anniversary, so a very lucky day! Louisa and her bubbly bridesmaids had the lodge house to themselves for all the bridal preparations while the boys got ready at the Hall. It was one of the happiest ceremonies that I have been to, I don’t think the couple ever stopped smiling and they are obviously meant for each other!

What an happy and fun day Louisa and Chris had! It has really made me smile putting together this selection of favourites, watch out for cute flower girls, a beautiful beaded princess dress and lots of confetti!

Beamish hall Wedding Photography – Andrea & Richie

Andrea and Richie had an amazing Art Deco/20’s themed wedding at the beautiful Beamish Hall Hotel back in August, it was only fitting after the couple got engaged on a trip to New York!

Andrea looked stunning in an oh-so-pale pink lace gown with blush pink and soft green coloured bridesmaid dresses and pink flowers. In keeping with their theme they had vintage gramophones playing during the drinks reception with lots of pearls and manhattan cocktails for favours in the evening.

You can never predict what the weather is going to be like and even in August it was a bit wet and very blustery, which did make for some great flying-veil shots! The couple and their families were so much fun to be around and made my job very easy indeed!

The Best of 2016

This year has been incredible for me, both in my personal life and on the business front (hello Regional Finalist for Wedding Photographer in the North East!). There have been so many lovely people marrying the love of their lives. I have been to rustic barn weddings and stately homes, majestic churches and garden ceremonies, but each day has been special and I have been so lucky to have played a small part in each.

A few venues have been ticked off my wish list this year including Doxford Barns (where I am now very proud to be a recommended supplier!), Beamish Hall Hotel, Crook Hall and Gardens and Doxford Hall, as well as returning to old favourites like Matfen Hall Hotel and Horton Grange.

It has been so hard to choose my favourite images from the whole year, which is why there is rather a lot! So put the kettle on, settle in and enjoy!

Doxford Barns Wedding – Sam & Zara

One of my favourite weddings of the summer was for Sam and Zara at the beautiful Doxford Barns in Northumberland. When I firstĀ met the couple at a wedding fair I got the feeling that their wedding would be my sort of day, totally relaxed and so much fun. This was my first wedding at Doxford Barns and I have since become one of their recommended suppliers, so it is fair to say that I love the place! Zara’s mum had diligently made what must have been hundreds of meters of bunting which was everywhere and looked amazing. The couple had their ceremony in the Threshing Hall which dates back to the 18th Century and looked beautiful with hundreds of lights by Festoon Lighting, old milk urns filled with flowers and petals down the aisle by the talented Wild With Love. Then it was outside into the sunshine for drinks looking out over the Northumberland countryside before the meal in the Great barn with lots of crazy dancing to awesome bandĀ Live Wire.

As is becoming more and more common, Sam and Zara didn’t want to do a lot of posed group shots, rather capture certain people throughout the day, something that a lot of my couples are keen on, and I am very happy to not spend lots of time setting up shots so that I can focus on the natural, candid images that I love to shoot!

I love that Sam and Zara did away with wedding traditions that didn’t mean anything to them, such as the couple doing a ‘first-look’ and walking each other down the aisle. As well as a joint bride and groom speech instead of the more traditional groom’s speech. Zara’s mum and Sam’s grandfather also gave a very moving speeches with lots of advice about life, marriage, cat ownership and everything!

It was so hard to chose my favourite photos from this wedding, but here is a small selection…
