Hallgarth Manor Wedding Photography – Ben & Lara

My first wedding of the season couldn’t have been easier to get to, Ben and Lara were married at St. Bartholomew’s church in Sunderland Bridge, just a short walk from my house! Lara looked stunning in a beautifully laced Monsoon wedding dress (which I thought was designer!) with the bridesmaids in purple and bright tulips for their bouquets. The reception at the Hallgarth Manor Hotel in county Durham was a very british affair for the couple who met on an international oil rig. With tea and scones followed by some group photos in the lovely gardens. Such a happy day and it was great to be a part of it!

Natural and Fun Wedding Group Photos

It is that time of year when I am busy meeting lots of new couples for next years weddings (yay!), I love hearing about all the plans and details of what to expect and when I ask what they would like from their photography the answer is usually “natural and relaxed photos”, which is great as this is what I do (and probably why they got in touch!). When the subject of group shots come up, most people seem to want to get them over with quickly, and generally don’t look forward to that section of the day. A lot of people don’t relish the idea of standing and smiling at a camera for ages until their jaws ache or are just plain uncomfortable with their picture being taken.

Personally, I love the group shots! They don’t have to be boring, dull and take ages. It is usually a point in the day when you have *just* got married and are deliriously happy surrounded by all your loved ones, who also want to take your picture! I think it’s important to have fun with your photographer so this is reflected in the more posed shots. It helps that I don’t boss people around or get you to stand for hours, I just make sure all the people you want in a group are present (sometimes with a bit of help from a friendly usher or bridesmaid) and capture you all at your most awesome and happy best!

The following are some of my favourite group shots from the last year, they are relaxed, happy and natural and I had a blast taking them-I hope the wedding parties felt the same way, but from their expressions I think they did! See what you think and don’t dread the group shots any longer!

Durham Wedding Photography – Danielle & Kieron

It seems so long since Danielle and Kieron’s sunny wedding day in August! The couple were married at the picturesque St Andrew’s church in Aycliffe, a small village not far from Durham City with their reception at the Bishop Aukland Golf Club, just a short drive away. The whole day had such a fun, party atmosphere and Danielle was a beautiful bride! I hope you enjoy this selection of photos from the happy day, the full set can be found on the main website here.

Newcaslte engagement photographer Amanda and Andy

It is always fun to go somewhere new to shoot, especially when it is as gorgeous as Jesmond Dene park in the heart of Newcastle! Such a beautiful spot in the heart of the city, with loads of interesting backdrops to chose from. I met up with Amanda and Andy along with their lovely boy Lewis and new puppy Hiccup for a wander around the park in preparation for their wedding in a just a couple of weeks time. An engagement shoot is such a fun way to get used to the camera and be all the more relaxed on the wedding day! I can’t wait for the big day soon!

I hope you enjoy this selection of my favourite shots, the full set is on the portfolio website here.
